Assistance may include:

  • direct technical support
  • funding for expert consultants
  • purchase of water efficiency devices
  • other needs as identified by the applicant.

To apply, submit the following materials:

  1. A completed application form available below
  2. A Letter of Commitment signed by an authorized representative
  3. Any applicable letters of support

Applications and all supporting materials are accepted on a rolling basis.

Applicant eligibility includes the following:

  • Be located primarily in Kane County
  • Represent a municipality, a municipal partnership, or water supplier (e.g. water trusts, districts etc.) (i.e., multiple municipalities or a municipality with a non-profit organization, park district, etc.)
  • Have the authority and ability to implement project initiatives
  • Submit an eligible project/program

Projects must support water conservation and efficiency. Examples include:

  • Developing a community water conservation plan
  • Conducting a water loss audit.
  • Reviewing or updating water conservation ordinances (e.g., an outdoor irrigation ordinance)
  • Launching a public education campaign to reduce water demand
  • Offering a fixture rebate program
  • Implementing conservation-oriented water rates
  • Exploring service sharing or joint procurement
  • Other relevant water conservation initiatives identified by communities

Funding for this program comes from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Projects will be evaluated based on water conservation priorities and ability of the project team to successfully complete the project.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Once the initial applications are evaluated our team may contact you to provide further information. You will be informed of the selection decision and next steps for accepted projects within 3 weeks of submitting the application.
