Conserve Water for Kane is an initiative led by Kane County in collaboration with Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG). Funding was provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Our Team
Jodie Wollnik
Jodie Wollnik is the Director of Kane County Environmental and Water Resources Department. Ms. Wollnik is Kane County’s appointed representative on the Northwest Water Planning Alliance Technical Committee, a member of AWWA and the Alliance for Water Efficiency. She has been a licensed Professional Engineer for 25 years with experience in water supply planning and modeling and water conservation.
Margaret Schneemann
Water Resource Economics Specialist
Margaret Schneemann is a water resource economics specialist with Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG). Her work focuses on the intersection of economics, urban planning, and water resource management. Schneemann’s position is through a partnership of IISG, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), and University of Illinois Extension. Ms. Schneemann is located in the CMAP offices in Chicago. She currently focuses on projects to create resilient and equitable communities and economies in the Great Lakes region.
Haider Mehdi
Water Conservation Associate
Haider promotes water conservation and sustainability across the northwest water planning region and Illinois by supporting education, outreach, and municipal engagement. He works with the Northwest Water Planning Alliance (NWPA) to connect communities with water supply updates and resources, and helps deliver conservation programs and tools to local municipalities. He also supports environmental education efforts that advance Great Lakes literacy and the mission of Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG) and University of Illinois Extension.
Haider has a B.S. in Biology and Minor in Geographic Information Science from Northeastern Illinois University.
Joel Davenport
Media/Communications Specialist
As IISG’s graphic arts specialist, Joel Davenport helps shape the look of the program. He works closely with the communication team and program specialists to produce our newsletter, flyers, displays, and other print and online outreach materials.
Joel brings seven years of experience in publication design, organizational branding, illustration, and web design. He has a Bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis on marketing.
Irene Miles
Strategic Communication Coordinator
Irene writes, edits, schedules and oversees production and distribution of over-arching communication on IISG research, outreach, and education efforts for strategic audiences. She identifies and communicates the impacts of IISG outreach and research on critical issues.
She has a Master’s degree from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois.
